Seasoned Professional Moderator
Filip Van den Abeele is a seasoned professional moderator who has hosted more than 200 international events for esteemed clients (such as the European Commission, BELSPO, VOKA, EuroConsumers, …) and blue chip companies including Amazon, Barco, BNP, DEME, Engie, imec, KBC and Oracle.
The portfolio below demonstrates his ability to act as Master of Ceremony, anchor and moderator for physical, online and hybrid events. Filip is a native Dutch speaker with excellent command of (Oxfordian) English. En Français, il se débrouille assez bien 😉

Filip enjoys the pleasure and privilege of working with different units of the European Commission, including DG-JUST, DG-DIGIT, DG-GROW, DG-INTPA, DG-SCIC, DG-RTD and DG-MARE.
He lives up to the demands of the Brussels’ bubble: discretion, diplomacy, and delivery.
Filip moderated our hybrid stakeholder event with great success! He can switch and adapt swiftly to his audience and to the organising team, relating to the needs and actions required. He knew how to make the (very technical!) theme of the event his own, and with his enthusiasm and professional attitude, he contributed significantly to the success of our event. It was truly a pleasure working with Filip, and I would recommend him for any other event as Master of Ceremony without a single doubt!
– Valérie Tankink, Head of Unit at DG-MARE
Hosting a hybrid event or moderating a hybrid panel requires a fair share of active listening, attention splitting and blending the perspectives of the onsite participants with the remarks of the remote audience.
A subtle act of tightrope walking, which you can only learn by doing.

Filip, you are a dream moderator!
Thank you so much for the intelligence, consistence and joie de vivre that you brought to the EuroConsumers Forum!– Henrique Lian, Director General at Proteste Brasil

With primetime television appearances reaching an audience of well over 1 million viewers, Filip feels at home in studio settings.
His TV experience makes him the ideal host for your webinars, podcasts, online events or broadcasting sessions.
We would like to thank you for an amazing job as thematic moderator during the European Development Days: your expertise, professionalism, timely questions and suggestions during the preparation phase; all your inputs and professional exchanges. We were very impressed to see you in the studio, giving the right energy and flavour to the event. The quality of your pitch during the morning session was beyond belief. The entire EDD team fell in love with you, and DG-INTPA appreciated your work very much too!
– Oksana Polyuga (on behalf of the #EDD team)
Whether it is a fireside chat with a European Commissioner, a High Level Panel with policy makers, an animated political debate or a round table discussion between different stakeholders: moderating means reading the room, connecting the dots, and voicing untold truths.

As always, it was a great pleasure working with you, Filip. A BIG thanks from the entire DG-JUST team for your fabulous moderation and your amazing intervention during the plenary debriefing session! You have created such a safety container for us as organisers and for the panel members, whilst throwing a wonderful show for the audience!
– Nils Behrndt, Deputy Director-General at DG-JUST

Facilitating a workshop is a totally different ballgame than moderating a panel or hosting an event. But the key ingredients are similar: active listening with unbiased attention to uncover the greater common denominators. And, as with all of the above: preparation is key!
Filip proved to be the perfect host to meet a multitude of often stretching requirements (e.g. introducing the keynote speakers, facilitating the Q&A sessions, moderating our vivid debates and time-keeping during the elevator pitches). With his combination of rigour and charm, he made our diverse and demanding audience feel at home. I can cordially recommend Filip as Master of Ceremony for any event that requires flexibility, a strong sense of situational awareness and an excellent command of the English language.
